Saigon, in the French colonial period (1887-1954) was greatly influenced by western cultures and architecture. Classic buildings were developed, following the style of French architecture. These heritage buildings exist till now, but aren’t well preserved and restored. One of the old buildings is our project, located in Nguyen Du Street, right in the center area of Saigon.
In 2017, Ms. Kasey, a talented Vietnamese pastry chef working in Australia, decided to employ her know-how and energy to Vietnam. She came back to create the pastry brand Ivoire Pastry Boutique. A unique project team had been formed and gathered in order to design this special project with the intention to restore as per the original colonial and architectural style.
6 months were necessary to design altogether with this 50m2 pastry boutique. The lighting design was inspired by the special combination of heritage values and luxury modern beauty. With the light, we want to sublimate the pastries as precious outstanding pieces of art. While the building’s prominent architecture was still respected and preserved.
Moreover, one of the highlights of the project is the handcrafted ceramic logo. The logo results from the close cooperation of Mathias (Art-director), Sebastien Sicot (ferronnerie d’art), Agnes Thierry (ceramic art), and kobi lighting studio (product lighting design).
