Open since January 2022, the headquarters of Mekong Capital in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City feature exceptional lighting. reflecting those who occupy them and their vision oriented towards progress.
After the global Covid-19 pandemic, going to work has become almost an event, an experience.
Aware of the new challenges raised by returning to the office, kobi lighting studio wanted to reinvent light at work in order to make this experience enjoyable and as pleasant as possible.
Understanding customer expectations and lighting needs
What kind of light will provide ideal working conditions and will enable Mekong Capital to set the course for its further development?
In order to offer suitable solutions, kobi lighting studio conscientiously followed the directives of the managers of Mekong Capital and gave employees a voice through an anonymous survey to ensure that everyone’s lighting needs are heard. Finally, we coordinated our lighting with the architect to ensure that the light will tie all the elements of the design into a harmonious whole.
By confronting the requirements of each parties, our analysis led us to propose a lighting according to the specificities described below.
A light that promotes performance and work experience
At Mekong Capital, vision is paramount. For their new offices, the lighting reflects the ambition, dedication, performance and constant pursuit of excellence of this Vision fulfillment center. In their corporate culture, they strongly believe that the context determines success : naturally, the same applies to lighting. This attention to detail from Mekong Capital has been carried over to specific requests for lighting.
For example, we have intentionally chosen to have a relatively high level of brightness in order to optimize the productivity of managers, but also of employees. Light motivates, stimulates and creates optimal working conditions. Superior quality lighting has been selected with the highest spectrum existing on the market with an atypical control of the blue spectrum to maximize the perception of reality.
The desk and work areas have ergonomic lighting for an enhanced work experience. The relentless perseverance of Mekong Capital in choosing only the best and leaving nothing to chance in terms of lighting ultimately allows it to confer a positive image on its company.
Offices where light maintains the link between man and nature
Light connects two worlds: on the one hand the world of nature, that of materials, plants and elements, and on the other the world of man, that of work and offices.
A “natural light” effect
When we studied the lighting needs and demands of Mekong Capital employees, 70% of respondents said they preferred having a desk near a window to have access to natural light. However, our in-depth lighting study revealed a high contrast between the areas near the windows exposed to natural light and the central area of the offices, which is darker.
Thus, to resolve this imbalance and to overcome this demand for daylight, kobi lighting studio gave the illusion of natural light indoors. Thanks to innovative lighting solutions including luminous ceilings, a counterbalancing of the light coming from the windows and a spectrum imitating the quality of natural lighting from the sun’s rays, we have succeeded in avoiding any feeling of confinement.
As soon as employees and visitors arrive at the office, the work environment allows you to reconnect with nature. A large lighted pond under a skylight stands in the lobby where the lighting is able to mimic that of the sun. In the garden area, not far from the lapping of the Pond water, we have played on an indoor outdoor effect and the lighting gives the feeling of being on an open-air terrace.
The consequences of lighting on health and well-being at work
Having access to natural light is not only important for the employees of Mekong Capital, but it is also essential for our well-being, our body and our health.
The “Skylight” fixture in the lobby and in the garden area is designed to reflect sunlight in real time, that is, to recreate lighting conditions similar to the lighting we might experience when we are outdoors. This innovative light device is accompanied by a control system that automatically adjusts the lighting (bright and cool light in the morning, brighter at noon, and darker and in orange tones towards the evening).
We’ve even taken our wellness light approach to the next level with the implementation of the WELL Building Standard™ (WELL) which provides guidelines that minimize disruption to the body’s circadian system, improve productivity, promote good quality sleep and provide appropriate visual acuity. Additionally, we proposed to set up light therapy spaces to exploit all the benefits that light can offer to the employees of Mekong Capital.
In the end, this atmosphere promoting well-being thanks to lighting significantly improves their level of comfort for employees and gives them the feeling of being at ease at work.
