Namia River Retreat – Hoi An, Vietnam
Flourishing on a private island by the Thu Bon River, less than 2 km from Hoi An Ancient Town, the Namia River Retreat’s LIGHTS beautifully resonate with luxury, sustainability, vernacular architecture, and native landscape details. Warm ambient lighting complements stunning river views, creating inviting, restful spaces that immerse guests in tranquility – the retrieved experience of luxury living.
At kobi lighting studio, our mission for Namia River Retreat is to sophisticatedly handle LIGHTS to craft a unique wellness destination and blend luxury with an exceptional heritage landscape. Our vision is to reinstate the balance of natural light and night, aligning daylight and nighttime illumination with nature’s rhythm to reset and rejuvenate the senses.
By day, we emphasize the true value of Natural Daylight, guiding sunlight to interact with people, flora, and spaces. In cooperation with other designers and the art director, we intend to create immersive daylight artworks, enhancing experiences through evolving shadows and colors, and reawakening our senses.
By night, the penumbra is to be “seen” and re-discovered for guests’ wellness. We design the space with Natural Darkness as the prime element, not light.
Artificial lighting at Night does not substitute natural light and darkness but is subtly installed through biomimicry design to complement the natural elements, aligning with nature’s rhythm. Handcrafted lamps use local materials to honor Vietnamese heritage. Lights at Namia River Retreat embody Ethics, Life, and Freedom, enhancing the feeling of exclusivity on the private island.
