Blue light, an invisible fighter to Suicide epidemic

Suicide is one of the serious issues in Japan, especially in urban areas. With a high number of people committing suicide every year, since 2009, the government had applied blue lights in many railway stations in Tokyo, to stop people jump in front of the coming trains and kill themselves.

Even though there are no clear explanation on how the blue lights prevent people committing suicide, but according to “a research paper published in the Journal of Affective Disorder in 2013, found that there was an 84 percent decrease in suicides at stations with the blue lights.”
